verbrecher verlag

Verbrecher Verlag is an independent publishing house founded in 1995 by Werner Labisch and Jörg Sundermeier. Since 2016, Sundermeier has been managing the publishing house together with Kristine Listau. The program is broad, with a focus on fiction. Verbrecher Verlag also publishes nonfiction and art books, as well as a city book series and a film literature series. In addition to extensive shows of the works of Gisela Elsner, Giwi Margwelaschwili, Rudolf Lorenzen and Christian Geissler, the edition of Erich Mühsam’s „Diaries“ is one of the publisher’s major projects.

Young talent is also promoted. For example, the debut novels „Juja“ by Nino Haratischwili and „Export A“ by Lisa Kränzler caused a sensation. Kränzler’s second novel „Nachhinein“ was shortlisted for the 2013 Leipzig Book Prize, and „Bodentiefe Fenster“ by Anke Stelling was longlisted for the 2015 German Book Prize.
